Berlanga’s $200K ‘Insult Offer’: Social Media Erupts As He Claims ‘A-Side’ Status Over Plant, Ignoring Canelo Rematch Realities

Edgar Berlanga responded to Caleb Plant on social media, saying he never received any contract from him, as he stated in an interview. Berlanga says he’s the “A-side,” and Plant is the “B-side.” Edgar would be the one sending the contract, not him.

Plant’s Perspective

The former IBF super middleweight champion Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) said last Saturday night to the media, “He [Berlanga] doesn’t want to fight me.” Plant said that they’d sent an offer to Berlanga, and had heard nothing back.

There will be no contract sent from Berlanga because he already rejected the fight with Plant, saying, “F*** Plant” in an interview after his win over Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz on March 15th. Berlanga says he wants to fight Jaime Munguia or Jermall Charlo next. Munguia has a 1-2 record in his last three fights. Jermall, 35, has fought just once in the last four years and hasn’t fought since 2023.

Boxing fans believe Berlanga, 27, is running scared of ‘Sweethands’ Plant, worried about getting schooled by him, and ruing his hopeless dream of getting a rematch with Canelo Alvarez. Berlanga got a big $10 million payday against Alvarez, and he wants to work his way back into a quick second money fight.

The $200K Offer

“You didn’t send me nothing. You not a f***** boss. You work for PBC. What are you talking about? I send you a contract. I’m the A-side; you’re the B-side. I’m going to send you a contract; you going to fight me for $200K, and I’m going to make $30 million,” said Edgar Berlanga on social media.

Berlanga letting Plant know that he’s going to lowball him an offer so he’ll refuse, and then he can tell the fans, ‘I tried to make the fight, but Caleb priced himself out like a greedy hog.’ Little did the fans know that Berlanga offered him just a trifle.

He doesn’t understand that Canelo NEVER gives rematches unless there’s controversy involved or if he loses. Neither of those things applies. Canelo schooled Berlanga, winning a wide 12-round unanimous decision on September 14th last year. It was so one-sided that there’s zero chance of Alvarez fighting him again.
